Set Decorating
We had a lot of dressing this desk with a hidden drawer for the opera MARIA DI ROHAN at UNCSA.
This was a quick final project using only items from our storage to tell a story. I decided to go nostalgic and set the scene for a tailgate at a football game in the fall.

This was a set decorating project for a workshop at UNCSA. We did Mr. and Mrs. Claus' kitchen. Look through and find some fun details!

The goal for the set dressing of THANKSGIVING PLAY was to capture the feeling of a high school theatre classroom ran by such a "woke" white teacher and her fellow cast members that they tend to be racist. This play is a great satire of Thanksgiving productions led by K-12 schools. Written by South Dakota First Nations, Larissa Fasthorse, she wrote this play after being told to stop writing indigenous stories for indigenous people. So she wrote one for white people. While the character, Jaxton, does yoga, more wall decorations can be seen, including a teacher's cart in the background and a rug. THANKSGIVING PLAY Augustana University Director: Dan Workman Set Designer: Jacee Casarella Props Designer: Becky Hicks

This is the set of I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE, and I spent most of my time focusing on set dressing. The set designer wanted it to feel like a rustic farmhouse/barn wedding, and so we had many picture frames, flowers, and candlesticks. This was on an outdoor stage built onto the side of the scene shop. In this image, we were running the show in "Rain Protocol," which meant that some dressing that wasn't water proofed was removed. I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE Black Hills Playhouse Director: Dan Workman Set Designer: Victor Shonk Properties Designer: Becky Hicks
In the windows of the scene shop, I set up curtains and a muslin backing that was backlit from inside the shop. Above the shop, I hung crawling ivy, a picture frame, and a large piece of white transparent swag.
